Hi Sisters! Welcome to the Fantastic Friday Blog!

Hi Sisters!  Welcome to the Fantastic Friday blog!  Here you will be able to see the projects and classes we will be doing on Fantastic Friday.

What is Fantastic Friday?
Fantastic Friday is a night, once a year, that we get to get out of the house, spend wonderfully fun time together and create some fun things as well. President Uchdorf said, "The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.  No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.  Everyone can create.  You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty.  You might say, I am not the creative type.   If that is how you feel, think again.  Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small.  Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano.   Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you.  You will make the World a better place.  Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."  So, for a few hours on Friday night we are going to soothe your souls with Creativity and Sisterhood.

When and Where is Fantastic Friday?
Fantastic Friday will be on November 1, 2013 from 6pm - 10pm at the Stake Center.  We will mostly be in the Gym, or by the Kitchen, depending on the project.

Who can come to Fantastic Friday?
All RS sisters and friends are invited to come and enjoy the fun!  This is a fabulous opportunity to bring a friend and enjoy the evening out.

What do I need to bring to Fantastic Friday?
Everyone is asked to bring their favorite snackie thing. This does not have to be dessert. I fact, it would be great to have some appetizer snackies for a mix of Savory and Sweet. But, we really just want you to bring whatever you would like.

Our goal this year is to show you how you can use things from around your house, often things you might have thrown away or not have realized their possibilities, and turn them into things of Beauty!  We ask that you don't buy anything specifically for the projects that you choose to do, but rather try to find something you already have from home that you could use.

Things that we will be collecting, if you have them to Donate:
~ Fabric. This is our biggest item we are collecting.  What find of fabric?  Anything and everything! We will be making Infinity scarves as one project and fabric Stenciling for another. Each of the projects can be made out of multiple kinds of fabric. So if you have some old Fabric kickin' around at home, let us know and we would be happy to give it new life!

~ Yarn. Who just can't help themselves when they see a yarn sale? Yep, we understand!  If you have some extra yarn that you don't need anymore we would be happy to give it a new home. We will be doing some finger knitting, so we will finally put that great yarn to good use :). Let us know and we would be happy to pick it up, or you can bring it on Sundays.

~ Milk Jugs. We are looking for the Non-Costco, traditional milk jugs. I know a lot if us shop at Costco, but unfortunately those jugs won't work. But if you have the other kinds of jugs, please rinse them and save them. We will happily come and pick them up so you don't have to keep them kickin' around your house. That would greatly help those sisters that don't use those kind of Milk jugs to be able to participate in that project.

~ Cardboard. We are looking for largish cardboard boxes. Examples- diaper boxes, large shipping boxes, or anything else with a largish surface. We would also be happy to come and pick these up so you don't have to store them. Just let us know!

~ Wood. If you have any scrap wood laying around we might be able to repurpose it for you. We are looking mostly for smallish pieces. Around 6 inches wide and any length, but if you have something differently sized, we might be able to use that too. Just ask us and we can tell you if it's usable for our projects.

~ Sugar Cookies. If you  like to make sugar cookies, we like you!  We are looking for about 4 people to each bring a batch of sugar cookies for our cookie decorating class. If you would like to be one of those people, let us know!

~ Salt Dough.  We will be making salt dough ornaments, but not like you did as a kid!  We will need a few batches of dough, if you would like to bring some, let us know!
