Freezer Paper.... It took me a while to figure out what it was.  Now that I know, I am in love!  Freezer Paper has a thin plastic coating on the back.  Did You Know you can iron it onto fabric and then peel it right off, with No side effects.  We will be using this technique to do Fabric Stenciling.  You can cut out any image, Iron it onto your fabric, Paint, and then Peel it off to reveal your crisp, clean Stencil. The possibilites for this are Endless!  Here are a few ideas to get you started:

What to Bring:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't have a fun Infinity Scarf yet?  or Want another one?  Come to Fantastic Friday and we will show you how you can make your own!

Infinity Scarves

We will be doing 3 different kinds of Infinity Scarves:

1) Transforming a regular, rectangle scarf into an Infinity Scarf.  If you have a regular scarf at home that you are tired of tying, bring it with you and we will teach you a great seam that will transform your scarf into an infinity scarf with a beautiful, enclosed seam.  This is a great way to use old scarves. This scarf I picked up at Good Will for $1.29!

2) We will be making Infinity Scarves from scratch! This is SUPER EASY!!!  You just have to sew 2 seams and stitch closed a 2 -3 inch opening.  You could even do all of it by hand if you don't have a sewing machine, or if you just don't like to use sewing machines.  It will be Easy-Peasy  and completely Wonderful!  We will be collecting Fabric, if people have extra fabric that they would like to donate.  But, here are some things you can bring from home that would work to make an Infinity Scarf.  You just need to be able to get 55+ inches long and 12+ inches wide, want it to be something you would wear around your neck and not too thick.  The best things would be thin/soft/sheer fabric:
 - Dresses/Skirts
 - Sheets
 - Curtains

We will have fabric ready to go for anyone who would like to make one, so Don't stress about bringing or finding something.  We just want to teach you how to make it.  Then you can go and make tons of them at home!

This Scarf was made out of an old sheet!

3) We will be finger knitting Scarves out of Yarn and our....... Fingers!  You don't have to know how to knit to do this.  It is SUPER EASY, I Promise!  If you have some yarn kicking around that you have been saving for that Perfect Project - This is it!  We will also be collecting yarn if people have extra yarn kicking around.  So if you would like to donate yarn please bring it on Sunday or let us know and we would be happy to come and pick it up!

This is just one possibility of what a finger knit scarf can look like.  If you would like to see more ideas you can look here.

As always, feel free to ask Questions! You can email them or just leaven them in the comments section and we will get them.

Cardboard Crafts

  • Tin Foil (we will have some, but if you want to bring your own you certainly can)
*Remember, we will have letters and paint so you don't have to bring anything

--------------------------------------------------------------------
We are making fun 'painted metal' words out of Cardboard, Tinfoil, paint and, if you want, Bayleaves!

Our pictured example is of NOEL, with the O made out of a bayleaf wreath.  However, We will have all the letters of the alphabet available for you to make ANY word you want.  Some Fun ideas would be:
EAT - for your breakfast nook/Dining room

LOVE
JOY
Or Anything else You can think of!

If you would like a different font, just print it out at home and bring it with you and we will have the cardboard, foil, and paint for you to make your fun Word Art!

We will only have a couple colors of paint available, so if you have one at home you would like to use, feel free to bring it with you!

Milk Jug Crafts

What to Bring:

  • Non - Costco Milk Jug (the traditional kind) or 2
  • Scisors (not your good sewing scisors)
  • Glue gun and Glue sticks (for the Lotus Flower only)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know about you, but we go through about 6 gallons of milk a week.  Crazy, right?!  Instead of just putting them in the recycling, We are going to turn them into beautiful and useful crafts!  I know many of us buy our milk at Costco, but unfortunately their square milk jugs won't work for either of these crafts.  Trust me, I tried.... :(  Don't Worry, We will be collecting the non-Costco milk jugs so everyone can have a chance to make these fun things.  So.... If you have extra non-Costco milk jugs, bring them on Sunday and we will take them off your hands - OR - we can come and pick them up if you'd like :) Each Craft takes 1 milk jug.

Wood Projects

What to Bring:

  • Only thing needed for Crackle sings is your own color of paint if you want something diferent.
  • Temple Picture - if you want it customized for your family I need 1) your last name and 2) the year you were married.  Email me at carolinerowe@gmail.com or leave a comment below.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

We will be using glue, paint, and contact paper to make these fun, crackly, holiday signs!  Our main goal throughout this years Fantastic Friday is to use things from around the house in unexpected ways.  Who would have thought that regular old Elmer's Glue would give us such a fun paint finish for our Signs!

Another goal of ours is to help everyone get a picture of the temple in their homes.  We will be using paint to transfer beautiful pictures of the temple onto wood.  We are still working on the finished look of these, but an example is  shown below.  We will possibly be offering customized EST. Sign for families.  What does EST. mean?  It means that above the picture of the temple you can have your last name and the year you were married.  Like.....  ROWE  EST. 2002.  I will get pictures up of this when we get it worked out :)

What to bring:

For the 'O Holy Night' and 'Thankful' Signs:
Nothing! Yep, that right, we will be providing everything for these projects. Great, right?!    We will have the kits ready to go for you when you get there.  There will be a limited number of kits available, so it will be on a first come, first served basis for this project.

If you have a specific paint color you have lying around the house that you would like to use instead of the colors provided, please feel free to bring that.

Want your sign to say something different?  That might. be. possible. I will be making the kits for these, if you *really* want your sign to say something different, send me a message and I will see what I can do ;)

For the Temple Pictures:
Nothing, really.  If you want yours to be customized with your name, please send me, or leave in the comments below 1) your last name 2) the year you were married and 3)the temple you were sealed/married in.  I can't guarantee that I will be able to find great pictures of all the temples.  But if I can find your temple, I will print it with your name.  The default will be the Salt Lake Temple if I can't find it.  Due to the customization of these, please make sure to get them to me by Oct. 25 so we can print them for you.
